When celiacs eat gluten, an immune response is triggered that destroys their small intestine.<\/p>\n<p>But even if you are not celiac or officially gluten-intolerant, gluten may affect your gut as well. There are a number of studies that say gluten may be causing\u00a0<strong>inflammation in your digestive system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s the problem with an inflamed gut?<\/p>\n<p>Lots.<\/p>\n<h2>What Leaky Gut Syndrome Does To Your Weight<\/h2>\n<p>If your digestive system becomes inflamed, the gaps between the cells of your intestine become larger than normal.<\/p>\n<p>These large, porous gaps allow fragments of<strong> undigested food, toxins, bacteria,<\/strong> and other items to escape your intestinal tract and enter your bloodstream (where they don&#8217;t belong).<\/p>\n<p>This is called <em>Leaky Gut Syndrome<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Once these foreign particles are in your blood, they wreak havoc on your immune system. There was nothing left to eat except maybe some eggs, meats, butter, and vegetables in their fridge.
