Mocktails

Alcohol and sugary drinks don’t have to be your only options at social gatherings. Sugar-free mocktails and alcohol-free cocktails have become a popular addition to parties and events, offering individuals a way to enjoy refreshments without compromising their health or weight loss goals.

Done right, these drinks are just as bold and flavorful as their sugary, alcoholic counterparts.

No matter your intentions, these alternatives, from citrusy classics to fizzy, soda-based blends, make it easy to avoid FOMO and feel included.

Key Takeaways:

  • Mocktails are a fun way to enjoy social events without sugar or alcohol.
  • Satisfying social drinking without empty calories is possible with citrus and herbs.
  • Group mocktails by flavor profile when hosting for added flexibility.
  • Mocktails can support both social enjoyment and weight-loss goals.

The Makings of a Great Mocktail

The best mocktails are as satisfying as traditional drinks when they strike the right intersection of citrus, carbonation, and herbs.

These guidelines make great sugar-free mocktails a cinch:

  • Use Sugar-Free Mixers. Carbs stay at bay when you choose sparkling waters or zero-sugar drink mixes.
  • Add Fresh Citrus. Lemons and limes are great—orange juice also works well.
  • Incorporate Herbs and Spices. Add depth and aroma with mints or ginger.
  • Finish with Bubbles. Bubbles add excitement—use sparkling water or diet soda.

Lock in some simple ground rules, and you’ll find your options to be nearly limitless.

What about for those of us who stay away from the Aspartame, Artificial Color, Artificial Flavor and all the other bad chemicals?

      Hi Claudine,
That’s a great question! Take a walk down your favorite grocery store’s beverage aisle for some fun substitutions. I know that Zevia is widely available and is sweetened with stevia. That can be substituted in many of the recipes above. You can also use flavored soda water and sparkling water without sweeteners. For the Peachy Island tea, you can brew an herbal tea and use that!

Let us know if you come up with some fun ideas! We’d love to share them!

Cosmo, question, I know on the program we are not really encouraged to partake in fruit (except the occassional apple) how does the orange juice in the Cosmo effect the body. Won’t the natural sugar in the orange juice that is added, cause our bodies to stop burning fat?

Hi Anita, the idea is not to “juice” the orange– just use a little squeeze of the orange half for the flavor and you will be fine!

      Hi Ashley!

If you are trying to lose fat, the best thing you can do is abstain from alcohol. Once you reach your goal weight, you can certainly enjoy an alcoholic drink once in awhile, and even start incorporating items from our Do Not list in our guidelines.

The key is to add these things back in slowly and watch how your body responds. If you aren’t putting on excess weight, then you are doing great. If you find you are gaining a little then you can adjust your eating and drinking according to our Do list until you find the right balance again.

Our Weight Loss Coaches are experts at helping people transition these things back into their lifestyle. Reach out to one today, they would be glad to help you! 1-800-273-1686 x4 or email [email protected]
