“I’m Not Fat, I’m Big Boned!” — Have You Ever Heard This?

A pretty woman wears a large doughnut around her waist, is she big-boned?

“I’m Not Fat, I’m Big Boned!”

Is there any truth to it?

Ellen, a Personal Trainer Food Customer in Wyoming shared her story with us. We thought her experience can help you de-bone this big-boned claim… once and for all.

Here’s what she wrote:

“I’m just big boned.” We utilize this phrase to try to explain, justify, or make excuses for our less-than-desirable height to weight ratios. It becomes almost a mantra for some folks who struggle with weight loss…like me. Being infamous for using this phrase in the past myself, I decided to look into the issue a little bit more to see if there was any credence to the “big boned” theory and if it had a profound affect on my weight, and more importantly, my ability to lose weight.

To give you a little background, I was never by any means a “petite” individual, weighing roughly 230 pounds and being 5’5” by the time I was a teenager. My mother was on the plump side, having a large frame and being tall for a woman. My father, though stocky, had extremely broad shoulders. I was convinced that my frame and figure were affected by these genetics and that this somehow prevented me from ever being able to lose any significant amount of weight and that I was doomed to a lifetime of thickness.

In 2011, my mother suffered a minor stroke. She was hospitalized briefly and put on a very strict diet of meats and vegetables only for a solid month. Due to my mother’s larger frame, I was shocked to notice how rapidly her weight dropped. I spoke with her doctor who informed me that having a larger frame has no bearing on one’s ability to lose (or gain) weight. Having a “larger frame” simply means that the average bone density and bone mineral content are higher than that of someone with a smaller frame. Essentially, she helped me understand that bone matter is of little significance on the scale, and the most effective method for determining skeletal structure is actually wrist circumference tests and hip-to-waist ratios, not weight. She also encouraged me that anyone can lose weight, regardless of their “frame” if they eat “correctly”.

Upon hearing this information, I ordered Personal Trainer Food and have been following it for a little over a year. Since I started Personal Trainer Food, I’ve lost 60 pounds! As a result, even though my mother was already getting great results by preparing and eating her own meats and vegetables, she started ordering Personal Trainer Food for the sheer convenience of it and has continued to lose weight and her health has improved dramatically.

Based on all of this overwhelming evidence, I have dismissed the “big-boned” myth. I now realize that even if you do have a larger frame, in no way is it an “obesity death sentence”.

Ellen’s story is a perfect example of how much bad information and confusion is out there, and how much of an effect this bad information and confusion can have on people’s lives.

When people start to believe these unfounded myths, they lose hope and give up.

That’s the REAL reason people struggle with weight loss.

We at Personal Trainer Food are here to tell you that it does NOT have to be this way!

YOU are in control of your own life. 90% of your body composition (how fat or thin you are) is based ENTIRELY on what you eat.

If you follow the Personal Trainer Food program and stick to what we teach you for the rest of your life you will get lean and stay lean –even if your bones are bigger than the next gal’s.
